Disability and job opportunities
At the City, we believe the right to work and earn is one of the keys to a person’s wellbeing.
Employment opportunities
We have a number of programmes which provide skills training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. You can read about some of them below.
Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)
The City is committed to employing people with disabilities both directly at the City and through its
Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). The City also works with its non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners to find employment for their members, through the EPWP.
Find out how to apply for work through EPWP following the City Connect link below.
You can also visit our
Jobs Portal to see what EPWP jobs are available at the moment.
Did you know?
A caring city: In our Basic Access Audit project, the City identified all obstacles on roads that people with disabilities come across. Half of the workforce hired was people with disabilities.
Get involved
Our programmes are advertised at local subcouncils and through the media. People with disabilities who are interested in these programmes should also register on the job seekers database at their
local subcouncil office or contact their
subcouncil manager.
